My first depict film that I chose is I.D. By Sam Firth, the film follows a teenager growing as an individual and discovering herself in the 90’s and 80’s. This stuck out to me as all human beings experience different walks of life and I personally really enjoy hearing people’s stories- the entire film consists of the teen in question voicing her life experiences during continuous photos from a photo-booth. Its minimalistic but flows incredibly well with the voice over. The mise en scene is quite simple- a blank background and centered photos which draws the viewers attention solely to the photo-booth pictures as they change, and the viewer watches the teen grow through time.

This short film follows a young female photographer in a rapeseed field trying to take photos of a scarecrow- only this scarecrow is not inanimate, and it begins to chase her. As it progresses she begins to run through the field trying to escape and eventually squats to hide but alas the scarecrow has caught up- she removes its bag from its head to reveal a woman that tells her to run but it is already too late. The scene cuts to two scarecrows -as pictured above- allowing no happy ending that most may be used to. solidifying the tension and fear the film induces in the viewer.

This last short film is also a horror narrative except this one is set in an artists painting room- the artist paints a bald man in a suit who comes alive when shes not looking and forces her into her own painting to haunt the unlucky people who purchase it- the music flows well with the atmosphere in this film and the lack of happy ending is a breath of fresh air compared to most modern movies
where most/some live.
